Janome Coverpro 1000 CPX

I decided on the Janome Coverpro coverstitch machine. There is a great support group on Patternreview. There is a four part guide with tips and great information provided by Coverpro owners. There are also several useful videos on youtube.com with helpful hints such as how to remove the fabric without unraveling the hem. I told my hubby that it would revolutionize my sewing. That might be just a little bit of an exaggeration but not much. He said it sounds like I should get one just as long as I charge it on the card that earns his free flights!

I had a busy weekend and haven't been able to actually sew with it yet. I did try it out though since it was threaded and ready to go right out of the box. This sample hem was stitched after removing one of the 3 needles with very few adjustments.

Now I will really enjoy sewing with knits. Any suggestions on mail order sources for nice knit fabrics?

  1. I just now found your blog... I'm going through the same research about which coverstitch machine to purchase - the Janome or BL. Have you been happy with your Janome?

  2. Yes, I am very happy with my decision. I like the extra room to the right of the needle. It's very easy to thread and to operate. As others have mentioned, the book is very basic. I get lots of information from PatternReview and YouTube. The only extra accessory I've bought is the clear foot with center guide. I'll probably try a binding foot in the future. So far, I've done only hems and they look great. I should have bought it years ago!

  4. I just purchased a Janome CoverPro (though I have the 1000CP instead of the 1000CPX) a few months ago. I haven't used it for a ton of projects yet but so far I love it! Kind of wish I would have waited for the 1000CPX but the one I got was a good sale price at a local dealer so I went for it and like you, I wish I would have bought a coverstitch machine years ago!

  5. I am interested in buying a Janome coverstitch 1000 CPX and have been told by Janome dealers in Spokane, WA that the machines sold on line are priced less because they are substandard in comparison to those sold by dealers in stores. I have heard people talk about the new machine having Lavender knobs and the machines is see on line have dark navy looking knobs on the right side. Does this indicate any difference in the machines? Does anyone have any experience that would make them think there is any truth to this claim?

    1. The knobs on my machine are dark purple. From a distance, they look navy. I had to get close to check. I had not heard about the online machines being substandard. Hopefully, someone can answer this for us.
