I'm starting to really like Kwik Sew patterns, especially since I got my new
coverstitch machine. I picked up
3915
a couple of weeks ago when I had a coupon from the local fabric shop.
Kwik Sew patterns are a little pricey and they hardly ever go on sale
locally. This is a new pattern and I couldn't find any reviews on
PatternReview. I took a chance and it turned out pretty nice. I will
definitely use this pattern again.
Since I wasn't sure if I would like it, I did a test sew with a piece of cranberry red polyester interlock knit that I purchased at JoAnn Fabrics on sale for almost nothing. Well, I didn't waste that piece of fabric because I love the pattern and plan to shop for more knits tomorrow.
This was an extremely quick top to make. I sewed everything on the serger and coverstitch machine except for the little loops for the buttons and the row of gathering for the front collar.
What did you make today?
I just picked up this pattern today an a road trip with a friend to Hancock Fabrics. I'm glad that you reviewed it positively.
ReplyDeleteYou'll love it marysews! Quick and easy!

ReplyDeleteUh oh....another pattern to put on my growing wish list! You've done such a lovely job, it's hard to resist! Your coverstitch machine is also on my wish list...some day!
ReplyDeleteI just saw this pattern earlier this week and knew I had to buy it. Saw your review at PR and your link to your blog. It really looks great on you and I am definitely going to order mine today.
ReplyDeleteyes agree with the others looks lovely and I am tempted to.
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous...we are still beginning stitchers...and have the most basic bottom of the line machine...do you think we could tackle this?you make it sound so easy!

Love your blog
Warm regards from south africa
ButtonMad, I made lots of knit garments with a basic machine before I bought a serger and a coverstitch machine. I used a very narrow zig-zag to maintain stretch. By the way, your buttons are great!
ReplyDeletewow you are just too clever....well done...I really don't like sewing clothes for myself....too many bulgy bits to fit nicely...lol

I love the pattern. I bought it, but I must have made it with a fabric that was too thick. I couldn't get the front to lay flat without a pucker. The pattern - at first - was confusing about where to cut on the neckline. I contacted Kwik Sew and they said (after I showed them photos) that the pattern had been printed with the markings at the wrong place. I'm wondering if the front V was marked wrong also. I need to try this with another fabric. I ultimately didn't do the gathers or the buttons.............
